Recommendations for formats of 3D objects and corresponding metadata for the purpose of their sharing, presentation and preservation

The methodology presents recommendations for processing, management, sharing and export of 3D digital objects together with corresponding metadata structures suited for presentation and presentation of information objects resulting from digitization processes. These recommendations reflect needs of memory institutions and aggregated databases of cultural content and take into account the relevant legislation. The suitability of existing data formats of 3D models and related metadata is discussed especially from the perspective of their sustainability. The need for development of a suitable strategy of care for digital cultural heritage is discussed together with potential impacts of corresponding decisions and compromises taken. An attention is paid also to conditions for long term preservation of cultural artifacts in digital form.

The Army on the media battlefield

The thesis "The army on the media battlefield" examines the extent to which the Ministry of Defence and the Army of the Czech Republic are media institutions. If they take media logic and if they subject to pressure of the journalists. All this in a theoretical frame of four phases of mediatisation that is defined by Jesper Strömbäck's work in 2008. The theoretical part defines terms such as mediatisation or media logic. The thesis also focuses on the explanation of corporate communication, which is related to the Ministry of Defence and the Czech Army. In the conclusion of the theoretical part both institutions are defined and the emphasis is on their communications department. The methodological part describes the research method of semi-structured interviews, which are used to collect relevant data. It also defines the research problem and research questions. The third part of the thesis is devoted to research where data collected from nine respondents from the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Army are analyzed and categorized to relevant research questions. Electronic books and their use in Czech higher education system

The goal of the thesis is to formulate suggestion to Czech universities regarding publication of textbooks and academic texts in electronic formats. The thesis also provides a general view of the Czech ebook market -- the history, formats and digital right management of ebooks are described. The process of ebook elaboration and reading devices with their pros and cons are also mentioned. The comparison of world and Czech ebook and etextbook market is emphasized and the availability of Czech etextbooks and academic text in Czech higher education institutions is mapped. The hypothesis that Czech students' demand for etextbooks is sufficient for profitable etextbook elaboration by Czech higher education institutions in the way that prevents from illegal sharing of content and violating of authorial laws is examined.

My bachelor thesis is devoted to ebooks. It elaborates on the format of ebooks and the sources from which it can be obtained. There are also analyzed the reasons why the books are digitized and the ways in which digitisation is performed. One chapter is also devoted to ebook readers and other devices and computer software on which one can read ebooks. The practical part contains the price setting of ebooks and assessment of the situation on the market for ebooks in the Czech Republic and abroad. The price setting of ebooks is applied to a particular numerical example. The main part is the survey among students of universities in the Czech Republic. Further aim of my thesis is to evaluate the situation on the ebooks market and to conduct a survey about attitudes towards ebooks among students of universities.

Formáty pro ukládání zvuku a další aspekty jejich šíření

Zvuk je mechanické chvění, které se přenáší vzduchem. Uložen může být analogově nebo digitálně. Digitálně se zvuk ukládá do souborů různých formátů se ztrátou nebo beze ztráty informace. Ztrátové formáty se od sebe liší mírou komprese, mírou ztráty informace a datovým tokem nutným pro přehrávání. Hudební díla uložená v těchto formátech jsou většinou chráněna autorským právem a jejich šíření bez souhlasu autora je trestné. K tomuto nelegálnímu šíření se dnes využívají výměnné sítě. Ty můžeme dělit na tři podskupiny a to sítě s centrálním vyhledávačem, decentralizovaným vyhledáváním a distribuovaným anonymním vyhledáváním. Masivní využívání těchto sítí mělo za následek snížení tržeb nahrávacích společností, které se snažily tento pokles zmírnit různými prostředky (ochrana kompaktních disků, mediální kampaně, represe).
